Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Comic Scanner (the "App"), developed and operated by Ertuğrul Sarı ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the App you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area), or that you have a parent or guardian's permission to use the App, and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. License to Use the App
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on any Apple device you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, as permitted by the Apple App Store's usage rules.
You may not: copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App; reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except where applicable law permits it; rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App; remove or obscure any proprietary notice on the App.
3. Scanning and Identifying Comics
The App lets you photograph or select a photo of a comic book's cover, sends it to an AI vision service to identify the issue and estimate its condition, and lets you ask follow-up questions about a comic you have already scanned. This requires your permission, asked before your first scan, which you can withdraw at any time — see our Privacy Policy for how consent and data handling work.
A limited number of scans and questions are free; beyond that, identifying a comic or asking about one requires a subscription or lifetime purchase, described in Section 5. Results — the identified issue, its estimated condition, its key issue status, and any answer to a question — are estimates produced by an AI model reading a photograph. They are not appraisals, and we do not guarantee their accuracy; see Section 8.
4. User Content
You retain all ownership rights to any content you create, save, or import within the App ("User Content") — your comic library, its covers, titles, grades, and notes. We do not claim ownership over your User Content. Your User Content is stored only on your device, so we do not have access to it and cannot recover it if you delete it or uninstall the App.
You are solely responsible for your User Content and for ensuring you have the right to use, upload, or process it through the App. Do not use the App to create, store, or transmit content that is unlawful, infringes another party's rights, or that you do not have permission to use.
5. Subscriptions and Purchases
The App offers a weekly auto-renewing subscription with a free trial, and a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are displayed in the App and may vary by region; the price shown to you at the time of purchase is the price you pay.
Auto-Renewable Subscriptions. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the selected plan. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal by going to your Apple ID account settings after purchase.
Free Trial. Where offered, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. You will be charged automatically at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends.
Cancellation and Refunds. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access until then. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's own policies — we do not have the ability to issue refunds directly, and refund requests should be made through https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
Price Changes. We may change subscription prices from time to time. Where required, we will notify you of a price increase in advance and, where required by law, obtain your consent before it takes effect.
Lifetime Purchase. A lifetime purchase is a one-time payment that unlocks premium features for as long as you use the App on your Apple ID, with no recurring charge.
6. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services to function, described in our Privacy Policy — including an AI vision provider to identify comics, RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, and PostHog for anonymous analytics. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of any third-party service, and your use of those services may be subject to their own separate terms.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, graphics, text, and underlying code, is owned by Ertuğrul Sarı and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property right to you beyond the limited license in Section 2.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY IDENTIFICATION, CONDITION ESTIMATE, OR ANSWER IT PRODUCES WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE. Any such result is provided for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as a professional appraisal or as financial advice — for a purchase, sale, or insurance decision of real consequence, consult a professional grading service.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ERTUĞRUL SARI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, and 13 survive termination.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, through a notice in the App. Your continued use of the App after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Turkey, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be resolved in the courts of Turkey, except where applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence entitles you to bring a claim in your local courts.
13. Apple as a Third-Party Beneficiary
These Terms are between you and Ertuğrul Sarı only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the App. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce these Terms against you.
