Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Ertuğrul Sarı ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and handles information when you use Metadata Remover (the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
The App is developed and operated by Ertuğrul Sarı, an independent developer. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at [email protected].
2. Our Privacy Stance
Here is the short version:
- We do not require accounts, sign-ins, or email addresses.
- Your photos, videos, and PDFs never leave your device. The App has no server to send them to and does not contact one.
- There is no analytics in the App. Nothing counts your taps or records your screens, and there is no crash-reporting service.
- There is no AI in the App. Nothing you clean is sent anywhere to be looked at.
- The only permission the App asks for is to add the cleaned copy back to your photo library. It never asks to read your library.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, App Tracking Transparency, session replay, or cross-app tracking of any kind.
- Purchases are processed by Apple, and your entitlement is managed by RevenueCat.
3. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
You choose the files to clean: a photo, a video, or a PDF, picked with the system file and photo pickers, or sent to the App from another app's share sheet. Those files are read and rewritten on your device. Nothing about them is sent to us, because the App has nowhere to send them.
The App keeps a history of what you have cleaned, on your device, so that you can find a cleaned file again and save or share it a second time. That history is a list of your own files on your own device. We cannot see it.
Information Collected Automatically
Nothing. The App collects no analytics, no diagnostics, and no usage information, and it does not contact a server of ours at any point. The only record of your use of the App is on your device.
If you subscribe, the App receives your entitlement state from RevenueCat, which assigns a pseudonymous identifier to your installation, as described in Section 5. No file you clean is involved in that, and no file name is sent with it.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, or browsing history. The App does not ask for the camera or the microphone. It does not ask to read your photo library: when you pick a photo, iOS gives the App only the item you chose. It also does not request access to your photo library to save a result; it asks only to add, which you may decline. We do not collect payment card information; all payments are processed by Apple. We do not maintain user profiles, and we do not use cookies.
4. How We Use Your Information
A file you choose is read to find the metadata it carries, which typically includes where the photo or video was taken, the date and time, the device and lens that produced it, and editing history. You are shown what was found. The cleaned copy is written with those fields removed, and saved or shared where you asked for it. That happens entirely on your device and is the only thing the App does with your file.
The system pickers exist for the same reason: so that the App receives the file you chose and nothing else.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to anyone, and your files are not shared with anyone at all.
Apple: If you subscribe, the purchase is processed by Apple under your Apple ID. Apple shares with us only the information required to verify your purchase. Apple's Privacy Policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
RevenueCat: RevenueCat manages subscription entitlement on our behalf. It receives a pseudonymous installation identifier, your purchase receipt from Apple, and your entitlement status. It does not receive your files, their names, your name, or your email. RevenueCat Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
No analytics provider: The App sends no product analytics to anyone. There is no PostHog or comparable service in it.
No AI provider: Your files are not sent to an AI or machine-learning service, on our behalf or on anyone else's.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ertuğrul Sarı, our users, or the public. Because we hold nothing about you, there is nothing for us to disclose.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Your original files are not modified, moved, or copied by us. The cleaned copies are written where you asked for them, which is your photo library or a location you chose, and they stay there until you delete them. The App's history of what you cleaned is stored on your device and persists until you clear it within the App or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes that history and any working copies; it does not remove the cleaned files you saved.
We retain nothing, because nothing reaches us. Your subscription entitlement lives on RevenueCat's servers under their retention policy; you can reset it by cancelling with Apple and contacting us.
7. Your Consent, and Withdrawing It
The App asks for no consent to send anything anywhere, because it sends nothing. The single permission it may ask for is to add the cleaned copy to your photo library, and iOS handles that request: you can change or withdraw it at any time in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy and Security, Photos. Declining it does not stop you using the App: you can still clean a file and save it to Files or share it instead.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and because the App collects nothing at all, a child using it sends us nothing. 9. Your Rights and Choices
Because nothing leaves your device and we hold no account or database, there is no personal data of yours for us to show, correct, or erase. Everything the App knows is on your device and is yours to control: clear the history inside the App, delete a cleaned file where you saved it, or uninstall the App.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, you have rights to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold, as well as rights to data portability and to object to processing. We hold nothing, so there is nothing to request; a question about how any of this works is still welcome at [email protected].
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. We collect none and sell none. Contact us at [email protected] for any requests.
If you are a resident of the Republic of Türkiye, you have rights under the KVKK (Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698), including rights to access, rectification, and erasure. Contact us at [email protected].
10. Security
Your files are read and rewritten inside the App's own protected storage on your device, which benefits from the encryption iOS applies at rest. The only network communication the App makes is with Apple's purchase services and RevenueCat, over HTTPS/TLS, and it carries no file and no file name. Because your files never travel, there is no transmission of them to intercept.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, through a notice in the App or the App Store listing. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
