Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Ertuğrul Sarı ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and handles information when you use Metadata Remover (the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
The App is developed and operated by Ertuğrul Sarı, an independent developer. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at [email protected].
2. Our Privacy Stance
The App exists to strip private information out of your files, so it would defeat the purpose to collect any. Here is the short version:
- We do not have user accounts or authentication systems.
- We do not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We operate no server. The App never uploads your photos, videos, PDFs, or their metadata anywhere. Everything happens on your device.
- Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat.
3. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
You choose the files the App works on, either by picking them inside the App or by sending them to it from another app's share sheet. These can be photos, videos, and PDF documents.
To do its job, the App reads the metadata embedded in those files by your camera or by the app that created them. Depending on the file, that can include camera and device details (EXIF and TIFF fields such as camera model, lens settings, and the date and time the file was created), editorial fields (IPTC), and, when your camera saved them, GPS coordinates recording where the photo or video was taken. The App reads this information for one reason only: to remove it. It is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Your original files are not modified. The App writes a cleaned copy, and you decide what happens to it.
What We Do Not Collect
We never receive your files or the metadata inside them. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information. We do not collect payment card details; all payments are processed exclusively by Apple. We do not request or collect your device's live location. We do not collect advertising identifiers, behavioral analytics, or browsing history. We do not use cookies. The App contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.
4. How We Use Your Information
All processing happens on your device. When you select a file, the App reads it, strips the metadata described above, and produces a cleaned copy. While it works, it may write a temporary working copy into the App's own temporary storage; that temporary copy is deleted when processing finishes.
You choose where the cleaned file goes. If you save it to your photo library, the App asks for permission to add photos and videos, which is the only photo permission it requests; it does not ask for permission to read your whole library. You can also share or export the cleaned file through the standard iOS share sheet, in which case you control the destination.
The App's share extension works the same way: when you send an image or a video to the App from another app, it is processed on your device and never leaves it.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to anyone. We share data only in the following circumstances.
Apple: All payments and subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. If you choose to save a cleaned file to your photo library, it is written to your own device storage managed by Apple. Apple's Privacy Policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
RevenueCat: RevenueCat manages your in-app subscription. It receives a pseudonymous app user ID, your purchase receipt from Apple, and your entitlement status. It never receives your files, their metadata, your name, or your email. RevenueCat Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ertuğrul Sarı, our users, or the public.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Your original files stay wherever they already were; the App does not move or delete them. Temporary working copies created during processing live in the App's own temporary storage and are removed when processing completes or when you uninstall the App. Cleaned files are kept only where you chose to save them, under your control.
The App shares a small amount of data between its main app and its share extension using a private app group on your device. That shared storage holds a single value: whether your subscription is active, so the share extension knows which features to offer. It never contains your files or any information about them.
Because we operate no server, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Subscription state is stored on RevenueCat's servers per their retention policy.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, or under 16 in the European Economic Area. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Because we do not maintain a user account database and store nothing on our own servers, everything the App touches stays on your device, which you control directly.
To remove the App's temporary data, uninstall the App. To change whether the App may add files to your photo library, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos on your iPhone and adjust the permission for the App. Cleaned files you have already saved are ordinary files; delete them the same way you delete any other photo, video, or document.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, you have rights to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold, as well as rights to data portability and to object to processing. Because we hold none of your data, these rights can be exercised directly on your own device. For any remaining requests, contact us at [email protected].

9. Security
Your files and their metadata never leave your device, which removes the main risk a privacy policy usually has to address. Communications with the only third-party services the App uses (Apple and RevenueCat, for payments and subscription status) are protected using HTTPS/TLS encryption. However, no method of data storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, through a notice in the App or the App Store listing. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
